I honestly didn’t think about doing a book blog newbie tag. I barely even knew what it was, but when I searched it up, I knew this was something I had to do. This is a way for the people who like my content to get to know me, and that’s neat. So, here I am and let’s get started with this newbie tag.
1. Why did you start this blog?
I’ve tried blogging before. I was going to be a personal blog, and that’s all good, but then I learned about book blogging. I didn’t think I would do good with a book blog, so I planned my personal blog, and I went with it. Then I realized that I could just try to start a book blog, and see where it goes. I ended up watching a bunch of youtube, and reading a lot of blogs. Also, I love the idea of meeting people from around the world who loves reading as much as I do.
2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
I honestly have no idea. I’m an awkward person, and I also tend to stay to myself. I think that’s what I will bring to book blogging. My awkwardness that some people actually like and my dry humor. Hopefully, I’ll come up with something that people will enjoy. For some reason, people think I’m funny, so maybe that’s one thing.
3. What are you most excited for about this new blog?
I’m excited to connect with different people around the world. I’m excited to see where this blog will take me, and if it will help me grow as a writer. I think having a blog is exciting but tough work, and I’m excited to put the time into what I’m doing. I’m passionate about it, so I’m excited for the experience, the trial and error, just… everything.
4. Why do you love reading?
Reading has always been my escape. I have a vivid imagination and I used to put myself in the books. Reading always relaxes me, because I’m able to sit in the quiet and be at peace for awhile. I am an introvert, and mostly like being by myself, so reading was something I’ve always found myself doing. I realized I loved it, and continued to do it.
5. What book or series got you into reading?
I actually don’t remember the exact book or series. I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember. Junie B Jones comes to mind when I think about a book I’ve read as a child, as well as The House of Night series. I don’t know why those came to mind, because I’m pretty sure I was reading before I picked up those books. I just know that I’ve been reading for a long time, and now things are starting to blur.
6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
I’ve always wanted to know three things when it comes to authors.
• What made you want to become an author
• Do you read your book once they’re published?
• If you could change something about your book, what would it be?
Those questions have always stuck with me, and since I’m a writer, I ask myself those as well. If I’m writing flash fiction, I ask, so I’m interested to know what they’re answers would be.
7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
Coming out of my comfort zone and actually gaining an audience. I know I have to be more open to opening myself, so the world can see me, and be interested in my blog. That’s going to be particularly hard for me because I’m a very closed off person. I don’t really like showing myself, but I’m starting to come out of my shell some. I also have little to no audience now, and I know it’s going to be tough to gain one. The first 100 is always hard, just like the first 1,000, and I’m afraid that I’ll never get there. I think that’s also where stepping out of my comfort zone comes from, I have to be able to put my blog out there! Here’s to gaining though!
8. When did you start reading?
Years ago. I started reading when I was a very small child. I’ve always enjoyed reading, and my mom used to buy me small books to enjoy. I don’t remember them, but I remember them being hardback, and having vibrant colors. My mom is also a reader, so I think I get my love for reading from her, since we used to read together. Or she’d read a book then give it to me after she was finished with it.
9. Where do you read?
I actually made a post about this but it’s still in the drafts. I typically like reading in the living room when it’s nice and quiet, but since Covid-19, it’s been anything but. My family is always home, unlike before, so I can’t really enjoy my reading and relaxation time in my living room. So, I’ve been reading in my room, either at my desk, or I’m laying in my bed. It’s relaxing once I settle, and sometimes I have music playing in the background. That’s enjoyable, but I do miss being able to read freely in the living room.
10. What kind of books do you read?
I read many types of books. I tend to lean more so to horror books though. I love a good romance book, and even tried to write one before. It’s called Weird Circumstances But Let’s be Friends, and you can purchase it here. It’s not that good, it’s a book I wrote about three years ago, and I just recently published it. My writing has gotten better since then, and we rejoice that.
I love horror books. I love the fear and the suspense, and the aesthetic it brings to the paper. I’m currently trying to write a horror story, but I think it’s more of a thriller, which is also nice. If you guys have any good horror book recs, then feel free to comment them down below.
