Hey everyone! We’re back with another book review, and there will possibly be spoilers! So here is your warning!
This book was so cute and charming. I found it so sweet and it really acknowledged how awkward teenage emotions and actions are. Especially when it involves a character having a crush on someone else. I personally liked when Millie first seen Flora and she gawks.
“It’s not cool to stare, I know that, but this is literally the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen in my life. Her Royal Highness. Chapter 7, Page 42
The LGBT+ representation was done well; because it all felt natural. Millie Quint is a bisexual teenager, who owns her sexuality and identity while in Scotland. Flora, the princess, is a queer character, who also owns her sexuality. She even goes on to say that she’s tried to date boys but it ‘didn’t take’.
“And me too. With the liking girls and boys. Well, not boys, actually. I mean I gave them a try, but it didn’t take”Her Royal Highness. Chapter 20, Page 148
This book had romance, it had humor, and sadness. I felt so bad for Millie during the beginning of the book, I was actually mad for her. I do, however, wish it could’ve touch more on her friends from Texas, as well as her family. I understand that the point was the people she met in Scotland, but it feels that they were tossed to the back burner. I think it would’ve made the story stronger if she talked to them more.
The ending was satisfying, and I’ll definitely read this book again. It definitely kept my attention from start to finish. I love reading cute novels like this. I also found out there’s a complain book about Alex and Ellie. I’ll be sure to check that out, and see if I like that book as well.
I recommend this book for anyone looking for a book with sapphic characters, and also romances. It’s a good read, I had only a few complaints.
One book you should read is: The Haunting of Hill House. Here is the Book Review! I also decided to try a different approach to Book Reviewing. I hope you enjoyed it this way.
